I put mine in modules in the greenhouse in mid-Nov. No shoots so I put the module tray outdoors. Had plenty of frost and snow so may have to resort to doing it all over again in spring. Have planted them in modules before and they have sprouted so I planted them in my raised beds. They survived frost and snow so ... the answer is - I don't know! ???
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

I planted mine out in the beds in the nov of last year and they survived all the freezing weather we had and gave me loads of lovely cloves
So I wouldn't worry about them at all :)

I put my garlic out November before last and got a better crop of garlic through that icy weather than the year before, so I'm not at all worried about this weather at all. :D

I get solid ground freeze for close to 4 months (only a backhoe can puncture the soil) and my garlic always comes through very well. Garlic originates from Siberia so that should give you a hint of how tough it is.

Someone might want to correct me on this, but doesnt garlic need a cold snap in order to form cloves?

No you are right. Garlic needs a few good weeks of cold to get it to split into cloves. Otherwise you just get 1 big fat one.

Mine was up when the cold hit but last time I saw the plot it was under snow and the poor old garlic had dissapeared. It came through last winter OK so not worried.

The turbo rhubarb we inherited on the plot is also up already  When the snow clears a bit I'll get a pic. You wont believe this stuff  :D

Garlic seems to survive no matter what.  Last year I got  a new plot end March and the garlic cloves went in in end April - I got lovely bulbs with cloves - perfectly split - in August!   Not enormous but comparable to supermarket  sizes so more than good enough!  Very fertile soil.

therefore if they do fail due to the bad weather it's still worth replanting in spring.

Garlic on my plot is still standing / sitting with shoots showing - I'm sure it will be fine  ;) despite the frost & snow... It loves it!
