When to increase humidity
« on: August 04, 2012, 10:54 »
Well I have finally got some eggs up to day 18 and showing movement when candled.  I flooded both water trays and now will leave the inccy.  I am just a little worried that day 18 is too early to increase the humidity.  I will see what hatches.
I hate to think that I may have jeapordised the chicks hatching by starting to increase humidity too early.
I have four splash orpington eggs and three millefleur sabelpoot eggs in there and will keep you all posted.

Day 18 is perfect :)

Don't be surprised if your sabelpoots hatch tomorrow.  Mine always started on day 19

Thanks Casey.  I have still kept the temperature the same.  I am wondering whether I should increase it?

Temperature should remain stable, if anything you can decrease it by 0.5°C

Well two sabelpoots and one Orpington have hatched out.  The Orpington is still in the incubator until it dries out and fluffs up.  the two sabelpoots are under the electric hen cheeping away.
I got a little worried about the new hatchlings moving the unhatched eggs around but then I suppose the hen still moves them while she is sitting.
I've learned a great deal from this and hopefully my next hatch will benefit.
One of the things I have learned is how hard it is to keep your hands from just opening the incubator to check on pipping and hatching eggs  ::)
I will try to take some pics soon.
