After thinking I would never have any potatoes this year I dug some up this morning in sheer desperation as I wanted to see / taste some I had not grown before.
Problem now is that the ground was so wet that they are covered in wet earth and I am not sure how I should dry them. Do I wash the earth off and leave to dry in the garage or dry with paper towel and put in the fridge? They are Lady Christl

I would just leave them in a cool dark dry place. Don't wash them until you are ready to use. The earth will come away a bit as it dries.

I normally hose mine down outside and then dry them in the sun for a couple of hours.....in the absence of sun    I'd dry them off in the garage.

I placed them out on wire frames in the garage first as it was raining, then the sun came out (yes, really!) so I put the frames out on our sunny patio for the afternoon to harden up and dry. I didn't bother to wash them.

Then they'll go into cardboard boxes for storage in the garage.
