cannibal!!!
« on: July 03, 2012, 12:35 »
My broody was incubating eggs that were 1week from hatching, I suspect one of my egg eating hens managed to get into the broody coop while mum-to-be was pooping and actually ate the eggs and the contents (this is totally disgusted me, but I have to toughen up!) I know I have to deal with the egg eating, and I know how to do this. My question is, is it likely that I can encourage my Orp to go broody again once she's back to full health?

you usually cannot force a hen to go broody, but some hens just love being mums that they grow broody at the drop of an egg. Next time I suggest you put your broody hen into a separate coop and run to prevent it happening again.
Staffies are softer than you think.
