I will be collecting my Asparagus crowns this week end but I'm not sure when to plant them.  Should I keep them until Feb or I've heard that you should plant them as soon as you get them.

yes I've read those top tips, thing is my manure is not well rotted ( and I wanted to follow munty's way) could I still do the trench thing?

yes you can dig the trench deeper and put the manure in then a layer of soil the crown finally the top soil they wont start to grow till may so the manure will have mellowed by then :wink:  always make the raised bed dont let them drown  :wink:

asparagus is grown on a raised trench system to get the best from it ,, if you follow the instructions for making the bed in my tips you will do fine :wink: ..

I'm tempted by Dobies selling year old crowns. They say you can be eating them after only a year. 12 crowns for £17 or £18.

Only thing is that they say they despatch late March early April which is the right time for planting.
Growing salad leaves isn't rocket science.
