Phantom Broad beans

Hi guys got a strange question for you all, i picked off a few pods off my broad beans, the pods looked very full in size and a couple of them looked like they had big beans inside even started to twist in shape, but when me and my little girl stated opening them the beans were tiny in size, they were th size of a match stick head.

Anyone know the reason why this could be.

BB pods can be decieving, even thought the pods look full, sometimes they are not, im affraid the only way to check when they are ready to harvest is to pick off a pod and open it, and in your case its best to leave them a week or two to let the bean fill out.
