Is it save to self prescibe Metcam?
« on: June 07, 2012, 19:13 »
Not of me, for the chicken.  I am giving one of my chickens Metacam for internal tumours.

The other one is hunched up and not happy. She's booked into the vets tomorrow morning.  Is it a good or bad idea to give her some of the Metacam tonight?  Might it cause problems, or make it harder for the vet to diagnose whats wrong?

And if so what dose?   2.3ml, the same as I'm giving the other chicken?

Thanks for your reply.  I didn't really want to, she was looking so sad, I thought it might be a bit of pain relief.  Better to wait.

Metacam should be used with care as it can cause organ damage. :(
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted!!
