Layers pellets in Cheshire...
« on: June 06, 2012, 05:58 »
Hello... Can anyone suggest anywhere I can buy layers pellets from in Cheshire for less than £9 for 20kg? I'm willing to pay the £9 but have seen a lot of other members being able to source feed much cheaper, just wondering if there is somewhere in Cheshire I haven't found yet ;)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

I'd be surprised if there isn't somewhere. Locally here, with all the associated additional transport costs to a remote area, they are a whole pound cheaper than that. Search out agricultural or seed and feed merchants. Good luck!

I pay between £6.75 and £8.75 depending on where i get it from.
The cheaper one i get from a horse feed / equipment supplier but usually pay £7.75 locally.

I dont know your area but try ringing a few animal feed suppliers, you may have to weigh up the pros and cons of the price if you have to travel to fetch it

Depends what part of Cheshire, big county. It may be cheaper to pay what you are paying then drive around for cheaper. (does that make sense?)

Wynnstay are usually pretty good and are Welsh/Midlands based.  Should be one near you.  If you update your profile with your location we could put you in touch with things nearby...

Do hope I haven't breached the advertising rules.  If so, sorry mods ;)

Thanks for the tips... I'm in Whitegate in Cheshire, still Internet hunting for suppliers, have a few to check out I think, and just seen a sign for poultry fee at a small holding nearby, will post results incase it's of any use to anyone else

Just been to a farm about twenty five mins from me, not the closest but they had some other stock that I needed. I paid £7.40 for 20kg layers pellets which I think is a good price. it's just nice to use the forum to check with others that I'm not getting a really bad deal.

Is whitegate northwicn way?  I live in Nantwich and we get all our food from H J Lea, there is one in Wheelock and one in Wardle (opposite NWF)  both layers and mixed corn are £6. Something (bad memory, pregnant brain!!)  for 20kg bag.  They are a mill so produce their own.
