Can I plant some quick growing plants between my runner beans ?

Depending on how far apart the bean frame is between your rows, it will get a lot of shade and any other plants will struggle for light, feed and water.

Given the current weather, the runners can go faster than the fastest fast plant you can put in.

I'd,ve thought you'd be ok with lettuce between the rows at this (early) stage in the season.  They'd benefit from a bit of shade, wouldn't they?

I read somewhere that someone had planted some Courgette plants between the plants, not in the gap between the rows though, so I have tried this as well. I've planted them on the more sunny side, not sute it will work but hey ho nothing ventured.....
