Problem peppers
« on: April 25, 2012, 19:41 »
I'm growing a few varieties of peppers and two of these are growing really well but the others are not too great.  The ones that are growing well are the "anaheims" and the "Rotika".  The "cayenne", "Hungarian hot wax" are a lot slower and the "Fresno" are really bad to the point where I have lost about 20 that were planted at the same time.

I have been growing these in the greenhouse since February with the heater on.

Describe what you mean by lost them?  How did they die?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Some varieties of pepper are really slow growing. They just need coaxing along by potting them up as soon as they need it. Now the days are getting longer they will start to get going like everything else. Patience is key with them

I grew fresno a few years ago, they were a waste of compost! Almost tastless. a bit hotter than a Jalapeno but quite watery. I would not be too upset about losing them.
Of course some people might like them, but not me
I have not heard of Rotika can you tell us about them?
A lot of my chillies are very small but I am not worried, they have got time to grow.

When I say die I mean wilted and died.  These we the ones that took weeks just to come through and only managed the two small leaves before the end.
Some of the anaheims and rotikas are about 4 inches now.  I'll wait and see what happens, if some don't make it then not to worry, I've no space now anyway!

Sorry I can't really tell you much about them as I have not grown them before.
