greenhouse question
« on: April 22, 2012, 21:53 »
and I think this is the right place for    :D

In a cold polycarbonate greenhouse ( the roof is twinwalled) where will be warmest............on the bench about 1ft below the eaves, or at ground level

Is there a temperature advantage in either of the positions - I'm curious  because I want to rig up some protection using polysheet so the toms can stay outside in a week or so, but wondered if I'm better off making it over the bench, or tent style along the side borders.

I would say the higher up the better as warm air rises.

My seedlings are currently inside the bubblewrapped staging, or on top of it, being covered up with bubble wrap at night.

Saying that, I've just remembered that I didn't shut them up tonight!  Be back soon.  off to the greenhouse with my trusty solar powered reading light!!!!!

higher up also gets the best of the warmth from what sunlight hits the roof

ps. cold air sinking makes hot air rise  - I love winding my sister & brother-in-law up with this

And it's the trees moving that causes the wind to blow by stirring the air.  ;)

I agree, higher the better. Also because the plants will get longer daylight and less shadow if they are higher up (especially true in a built-up area).
