Hello

Moved into my house last year, and have ripped out all of the front border bar two lovely plants that I can't identify at all... Any suggestions?

Well I did what I probably should have done in the first place. In all times of uncertainty... phone your parents. Dad reckons they're 1) Pieris and 2) Choisya.

1st photo is definitely a pieris but I can't make out the 2nd.
A woman's place is in her garden.

I think the second picture could be a spirea vanhouttei, often called the bridal wreath bush. Someone more knowledgable than me may be able to confirm it.

I'd go with Pieris and Choisya.

I think Bridal wreath has more pointed leaves than the bush in the pic has

Pieris yes,

Bridal wreath spirea, no

Choisya , no

The flowers look slightly too tubluar and the leaves are not right --choisya has a 'hand' of leaflets for each leaf, and the wood is the wrong colour -- much too dark.

Looks like Osmanthus delavaya... are the flowers scented?

Pieris definately yes.

Other one not choisiya.
Not sure about it being Osmanthus either. Shape and branches look wrong for that.

Pieris yes

I have both a Bridal Wreath and a Choisya, and can confirm the second piccie is neither! ::) Might it be a Deutzia?
small, Welsh and almost certainly bonkers, but can be tamed with Talisker, if required

I'm not sure the second one is an osmanthus - leaves are dark green and shiny on that.

I think it is Exochorda macrantha The Bride  :)

Pieris yes, choisya no - but not sure what it could be - would need a close up of the flowers.  ;)

Thanks to everyone for the suggestion - sadly away from home for a week but I'll take some close ups as soon as I get home on Friday. Thanks again!

Thats a  beaut of a Pieris and agree that the second one is not a choisya.

Could it be a single flowered philadelphus.  Photo is not quite close enough to identify
