Celeriac, Brussels Sprouts, Cauliflower - white and green, Purple Sprouting Broccoli, yellow carrots, summer crook neck squash, uchiki kuri squash, some new tomato varieties, Nigel's outdoor chilli, chard, bread seed poppies and a herb called quillquina which is supposed to be used where you'd use coriander.  I find coriander difficult to grow well.

Lord knows where I am going to put it all as this is on top of what I grew last year..

The closest I'm going to get to a new thing is potatoes as I've not grown any for a few years.

Something has dug up and presumably eaten my Oca from the raised bed in the polytunnel. I checked the other morning and found just six holes where I'd planted them a few weeks ago

Im growing some brussels sprouts for the first time at the end of my maincrop potato rows,
it will be a ten foot row.
They are called groninger.
The seedlings are just appearing in greenhouse for planting out in May, and looking forward to a harvest in Oct to Dec.

Self blanching celery. One new crop a year is enough for me. If it does well or even reasonably well then it can become part of the rotation. But an allotment is only so big and we can only eat so much.

  • Purple cauliflower (purple graffiti)
Watermelon (if the seeds actually germinate for starters)
    Red carrots (samurai)
    Yellow beetroot (burpee's golden)
    Parsnips
Peppers that look like tomatoes (Alexander)
Rainbow coloured leaf beet (Bright Lights)

As you can see, I was in charge of buying the seeds for this year at the plot  :D

Okra!  So far I've got about 10 plants about 2inches high, indoors. I can't find any info on what to do with them other than the limited advice on packet. Anyone tried them?
Oh yes.........green calabrese and bambino tomatos ::)

I tried Okra last year, the germinate easily undercover. when I move them out, they just faded away. over ten plants and none survived. I am not sure if it is because the soil...? but I know they like hot wheather.

I find that if I google "RHS [plant name]" then I find something new I didn't know:

http://www.rhs.org.uk/Gardening/Grow-Your-Own/Veg-A-to-Z/Okra  (site is offline at present but should be back up and running soon).
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Thanks, I'll try that........seem to be spending so much time out in the garden/plot that sitting long enough for a spot of research is at the bottom of the list!

I think it's watering them, they hate it and it kills them off
