At last I have some beans - enough for me for tea last night. They're from the third lot I sowed so it shows you have to be persistent.
Once again I think the drought was the problem. I'm going on a big compost and manure binge this autumn.

This is my first year on the allotment, I use the tricks (tips) used by my dad 20 years ago.  

I started my runners of by placing the seeds onto kitchen roll on plates and keeping them moist and warm on the kitchen window, I then only planted the ones that sprouted singly into small pots.

This worked well and around 70% germinated, however some people don’t recommend this method, but it worked for me and they then get away earlier.
