Hello can anyone tell me a reason why my silkie cockerel has decided to attack a young hen,
he is normally such a gent around his ladies,i  introduced 3 new pekins last summer and all was well till recently,he pecks violently at her head  causing damage she now keeps out of his way as much as possible but i have to rescue her to stop him as i fear he will kill her,i cant leave them alone together now,

they have likes and dislikes pretty much the same as humans. Is the hen any different in  colour to the other new ones?

the hen he has attacked is a cuckoo pekin and i have an identical one from the same brood,so i dont understand  at all

fit a beak clip to him which will stop him being able to grip her feathers. If that doesn't work then you will have to decide on whether you want to keep him or her?
