sorry but it could be just one of those things. If it is still alive I would say it is best to cull it sorry  :(

Craig

Here's a List of causes for Malformations

Poor storage conditions
• Jarring of eggs
• Nutritional deficiencies
• Inadequate turning
• High or low temperature
• Inadequate ventilation

Early Hatching---- too high a temperature

There's load's of things to get right for perfect artificial incubation and after selection of stock it starts at Selection (not too big/Small/Misshapen/Thin/Rough shelled/Excessively dirty),collection and storage of the eggs,
Even your breeding stocks health and genetics play a big part
they have to be stored at around 54deg F and at roughly 75% humidity, stored point down and turned daily, I have always set the eggs for incubation every 5 days.
I  fumigate/Sterilise the incubator using Copper sulphate Crystals and Formaldehyde, there is other things on the market but that's what I use,
For info:- mixing these two together produces a violent reaction and copious amounts of  gas and is best practiced outside and not in the house, its also a good way to fumigate your chicken shed (make sure the chickens are locked out)
A little of each of the Copper Sulphate and Formaldehyde in a 4"tin till you get used to how much you need and don,t breath it in

The best bet is to get a really good book on eggs and incubation, it will explain all the do's and dont's, that's how I started

Mick

as I said it could be just one of those things - it happens with all forms of animal life with no explanation. Please don't beat yourself up about it Craig, just so long as every time you try to incubate you start of with good clean equipment, good stock and follow the advice for incubating then you will know you are doing all you can possibly do.
