Thanks folks. it is good to know that the tubers probably will develop too. i picked up a pack of the single typ and popped them into a tray. They are sitting in the little room with my washing machine which is a perfect warm and damp environment to get them going.

Be aware that seedlings won't like warm damp air once they are through - it may encourage damping off disease.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Yea thanks. once they break the soil i move them to a less clammy spot. in there seems great for germinating though.

Single flower dahlias attract bees and other pollinators to the garden.

Double flower and ball dahlias look splend id but they are sterile and do nothing for the bugs that work in the garden as they produce very little nectar.

Go for the buzz.

I've started mine, and they are over an inch high already.  When they reach 2 inches, I'll put them in individual pots.  But they do grow quickly.  I just follow what it says on the packet though.  I did really well last year, and have got lots of tubers :D
