Worming chickens, need some advice
« on: February 13, 2012, 11:19 »
I will be worming my chickens this week sometime. Can i use their pellets to make some mash with some warm water and mix the flubenvet init so i knw its in the feed and not gone to the bottom if the feeder.

If i shouldn't, then do i put something in the pellets so the wormer will stick to the pellets.

a little drop of edible oil (as opposed to engine oil  ::)) will help it stick to the pellets  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

I use the mash method i.e. couple of handfuls of pellets, mixed with some warm water until it is a porridge consistency, I then add the Fluvenvet (not before I get the cosistency right) and mix it in well.

That is a brilliant tip! DIdn't know that.  Do love to learn a few new things each day! Problem is remembering them. This is one that will be remembered. Just about to start worming our girls today.

Thanks for that.

You're welcome, just remember to only use a little drop though - too much oil is bad for hens  :)
