Probably in the wrong place but someone will shift it I guess. I have had a wormery for a few years and not really had much success. I get plenty of Worm Tea but the compost that I get is always sloppy and sodden. What should I put in to get it to be nice and dry and crumbly like its supposed to be? I only put in the recommended stuff( no onions, very little in the way of citrus fruit) but it just comes out sloppy.

I remember wormeries being discussed before. Perhaps a search on this board or perhaps even equipment shed or design and construction will help.

Make sure you put in plenty of dry matter such as paper as well as the veg stuff. Also keep the wormery covered from the rain.

I use a good mix of veg peelings, envelopes from the junk mail (just remove the windows) but don't tend to put in fruit at all as I find it makes it a bit damp and the worms don't like it. I do mix it up before putting it in and also chop bigger things like broad bean pods up. (I spoil them  )

Finally I also use the worm food you get online plus the 'bran' stuff as well from time to time but not as often as is suggested and I  seem to get good results.

When you say covered from rain do you put a cover over the whole composter or a fabric cover over the top of the stuff in side?

I cover the whole thing on the outside to stop the rain getting in through the ventilation holes in the lid.

The worms and stuff inside get covered with cardboard now as the fabric one rotted as you would expect. The thick cardboard rots too and gets replaced from time to time.
