Manure V's Roots?
« on: January 29, 2012, 10:15 »

I've had a load of manure delivered yeasterday, and all I can say is, because I know the guys (used to work there).. it was er, quite a large load....

Anyway, got it all barrowed in, and realised that I may have to spread it a bit further (onto the other bed).

But because my other bed I had reserved for all my roots, I was wondering, if I have to spread some on the other bed and reduce the area needed for roots, how close can the manure be before it affects them as in forking etc??

Proximity is not a problem.

In the growing area is.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I might not get something here. Why do you want to spread it all? You can just leave in a pile what is not needed for next year.

This is a problem I would love to have

Too much manure  8)

As gobs said, a heap (covered) would be good. It wonlt matter if it is near your roots bed, Goldfinger

Spread as much as you can and plonk a few squash plants into the top of what remains.

I'll second what gobs said.  ::)   Oh to have that quandary.   ::)   Cheers,    Tony.

I thought it would've been a nice sized load for just one bed, but it wasn't - far from it!

Anyway, I think I will have to stack the excess for next year.
