In weather like this our Freya can often be found in the coop door way, the chickens just walk over her :nowink: once I found her in a a nest box with Tinker ??? she's a strange cat :nowink:

Our 7 hens terrorise our cat, he has a healthy respect for them that's for sure! Hehe!
My chickens probably make more sense than I do so forgive me ;-)

Depnds on the personality of the birds and the cat. size of the birds can make a difference but in my experience cats have always been the ones to have been troubled by the birds.

Our 2 new bantams squark like crazy in their run if our old cat strolls by.  She doesn't bat an eyelid as she is deaf as a post!

My sister is buying pekins in the spring, and it's been a topic of conversation between us recently.

She has several neighbours cats around her, and is very worried that cats may kill pekins/bantams as they are smaller than chickens.

Is she running a risk by letting them free range?

We have no problems when our chooks are freeranging as our cat is terrified of them and will only be brave and pounce on them if I am in the garden-silly puss
Also we have lots of neighbourhood cats and they seem not to bother with the chickens either, unless they got pecked and did'nt try again.

i now have to lock my chooks up when im not at home, thought we were safe from foxes mink etc as the garden runs down to a river but alas we lost several of my lovely birds to mink during an afternoon, then a fox came over neighbouring fences early evening,we dont take chances now
