my onions are in yahoo!
« on: January 16, 2012, 13:48 »
hi everyone .ive just sown my onions indoors from seed .both red & white (red baron, bedfordshire champion, marco.) its the first time with the white ones from seed but  after the success of last year with the red i thought i,d try the white ,i urge all you onion set fans to have a go with seed ,it gives you a great buzz to do a bit of sowing so early in the year and hopefully i"ll get the results for the time and effort.has anyone grown these two white varieties from seed before,i would be interested to no how you got on with them! :)

I grow Bedfordshire Champion every year. Its a good Onion and keeps well, we still have about twenty hanging in the garage. I am not a fan of sowing early for onions that are  just for the Kitchen. I sow them about the 1st of March in modules and plant out at the end of April. Sown at that time of year they make rapid progress.
Sets a low standard and fails to achieve it.
