She never mentioned eggs at all.......

Although she's. It laying & hasn't for a good couPle of months or so, she moulting, so from what I've read she won't till she's finished. Do you have to stop eating them if on antibiots?

yes, and with Baytril I would wait until she has been off the medication for a couple of weeks before eating them. This doesn't apply to all antibiotics though.
Staffies are softer than you think.

hiya, thanks for the advice, if she does start laying in that period i will ditch them. thankfully it is v easy to tell the eggs apart as hers are small!!!

we have to give her her first dose of antibiotics today, shall be interesting as we have to syringe it in her beak & both my husband and I haven't handled them much and unlike our other hen who is v friendly & happy to let you pick her up, she just squats a bit & lifts her wings a little but dolly who's the one not well, runs away & hates being picked up!!!!  i imagine it will b amusing to our neighbours if they see us!!

I recommend wrapping them up fairly snugly in a tea towel - stops their wings escaping and their legs from scrabbling.  You only have their head to keep still then  ???

also if you can hold them on a flat surface under your arm then with that hand you can open their beak and hold the syringe with your free hand - takes practice but is possible  :)

Well we just about managed it & think I only lost a small amount from her snapping her head from side to side! My hubby held her round the middle holding her wing down & under the breast & I held her mech near her head & did the stringing, was a bit tricky as we were On the icy decking. I like the idea of the tea towel, will give that a try tomoz as was a bit worried of her getting stressed & hurting herself from trying to get free  :(
