Weeded  the strawberries,  onions and spring cabbages with my new swoe.   Sowed some lettuce, beetroot and radish seeds in the new Polytunnel/cloche -  just a bit of an experiment!

Finally with the help of my foster daughter we tackled some of the brambles growing on the new plot.  A few monsters taken out today!

Tidied out my shed and found about 100 plastic pots in a trunk - just won a bin liner full of pots on freegle and then found this lot!!

Raked over a bed and spread some chicken poop pellets and raked it over again.  Want to get the rest done before the rain on Sunday.

Lifted a tarpaulin thats covered a large part of my 'unworked' side.  Stagnant water was a nice surprise after I splashed it over me......Worked this soil over as I'll be receiving 2 black currents, 1 red current, 1 white current, 2 gooseberry Invicta, 1 gooseberry Pax, 1 gooseberry Hinnonmaki Yellow and 1 blueberry!!  All for £25

Oh and most importantly I wore my 'allotment shorts' for the first time this year!!!! (Wife says unfit for ANY other venue due to some (fashionable?) holes

Sowed some radish, dug over some more of the greenhouse base and cleared some more tall weeds. Took it easy today as have had a dodgy knee since Saturday...but seems to have improved :)

Raked all the beds over again to get rid of the deer and rabbit footprints that have appeared since Sunday, planted the shallots and red onions and covered them with netting. Cracking afternoon in the glorious sunshine. :D :D

Dug some holes that will be filled with concrete to anchor the greenhouse down, and levelled it all out.

Sowed carrots, little gems and radishes under glass, more as an experiment than anything else.

Finished my strawberry bed this afternoon. Moved the lot to a new patch.

Some really healthy looking plants so I have high hopes for them.

No shorts today.  Bu boy do I love freegle & greencycle

Today I collected, free of charge, 18 large bags of wood chip for paths!

I also received a text from the girl who gave me some plant pots asking if I would be interested in horse manure...........organic horse manure...........FREE!!  went to look and there are 2 piles both about the size of my car.  One is 2010 vintage and the other is 2011.  Happy days  :D

Started prepping the greenhouse for its summer incumbents and had another go at bashing the living daylights out of an apple tree stump.  Left in the ground after tree was felled by previous owner and now making a nice coppice wood of 1 tree.  The thing is about 2ft across now so I cant get to the base.  I'm just working my way around taking bits off until just the original stump is left and I can get under it more easily

Been busy collecting and ferrying planks today to the plot.. Scaffolding planks for pathways, other 3x2 planks for making a lean to roof structure to use as a storage area, pallets and other timber offcuts to burn to collect ash to use as Potash. before you say beware of the nails from the pallets .... I do have a large magnet to remove them !!  :D  More to be collected tomorrow and then dig and plant my 420 onion sets.. eeks ... Yes we do love onions!!
