silicone bun cases
« on: December 10, 2011, 12:55 »
Does anyone use them?  I have a selection of these, square, round, heart shaped and when I've use them the under side of the cakes burn.

Hi,

I use nothing but silicon now and can't say that i've ever had a problem with burning on the base. Mind you I do cook my cakes and bread at a lower temperature and for longer so that might be an idea.

I'm gradually going over to silicone and I have a 6 hole bun tin and 18 individual cake cases in silicone, but never had a problem with burning.

So yes, I agree, try on a lower setting for a bit longer.  What temperature do you usually cook them on?

Generall silicon is fine as long as they are well supported underneath throughout and turned out with great crae to avoid crushing them up inot the centre.

None of this is an issue for supcakes or buns I know
