O.K. Here is my question:  Can you tell if a peep is a hen or rooster by the feathers on the feet?  My Rooster has feathers on his feet and my hens (2) don't.  I have peeps that are about 14wks old some have featherd feet and some don't.  Can I go by this to sex them.   They are Golden Coo Coo Marans.  This is my first load of pumpkins lol :roll:

no you cant sorry betty, sexing any chick is to intense for most folks as inexperianced as i am i have problems getting it right everytime myself ..... so i give you my best informed opinion on how to do it .......... if they crow they cockerals ............ if not they hens .. if you search sexing chicks there is a diagram on how its done for those who wish to practice

Nope, sorry.  It just means he's a frenchie!  The "french" maran is still bred with feathered feet. The brits and yanks developed and mostly have the clean legged type.
