i have a light sussex cock he was born first week in july and someone i spoke to who has chickens that he wont start crowing till next spring is this true please help me

no he will start as soon as he is ready - this could be 9 weeks or even 20+ it all depends on the bird but most start around the 3-4 months age.

We have 2 cockerels (ssshhh don't tell anyone) born the end of May, Boots the poot has been quietly crowing for about 10 days now but Obi the Dutch bantam is being quiet, for now :)
