I have just been getting a Council Tax rebate for my Mum, her house has been in the wrong band for 18 years, so quite a substantial sum 
During my quest for information, on another site, someone posted up this link as something of general interest.

Southern Water make a charge of £22 a year If your surface water flows into a public sewer. If it flows into a soakaway you can claim a rebate. None of our surface water flows into a public sewer.

I had no idea about this, so I thought I'd share it with you. I haven't filled in the paperwork yet so can't advise you any further....... so, check out your charges & (possibly) let your water company help pay for your Winterval feast !

We've had ours waived, but they then added another charge for something I can't remember, so giving it out with one hand, and taking away with the other.... but it was worth a try!
