Does anyone use this type?

Do they work for full size hens (warrens) or are they only good for chicks? Thought I'd scatter a few around the place - as far as I can see, not much available that's small and low priced - and of course I must have green

they are ok for chicks (afterall they are called chick drinkers) and for one broody hen with them but not suitable to use for large fowl all the time. They would be empty very quickly or knocked/blown over.

I've got a few of these left over from when I was hatching chicks - they really are too small for a hen to use (the "mushroom" used to block their head). You are better off with the more open bell-type drinker.

I use them only for chicks, they're to small for a hen to drink in comfort.

For the big girls i use car boot bought casserole dishes that have lost their lids, you can pick them up for pence.  My hands are not as strong as they use to be so i have a struggle with  'proper' drinkers getting the tops off.

 I  go round everyday with an old washing up brush, scrub them out with the water thats left and refill  from the watering can .

If I were you, i would just use some random old containers and put a clean brick in the middle. I use old washing-up basins also

if you have chicks though make sure they can't drown in whatever drinker you use

I use a length of guttering which lays along the width of a shed.  It is easy to clean and fill and it's a great sight to see them all drinking from it.

Thanks for all the ideas folks - plenty to choose from, tho I do like the guttering!
Didn't dawn on me that the mushroom might be a bit small for a chook's head - lots to learn. BG
