Parmigiano-Reggiano is DOC protected and can only be made in certain provinces.... If a cheese is labelled Parmesan it's probably not even Italian.

Parmigiano type cheese made in Italy, but outside of the approved provinces, is called Grana and it's cheaper.

It's up to you which you prefer to buy and eat, but I know which I prefer. If a cheaper hard cheese is preferred try Pecorino grated on pasta ;)

The major area for this cheese is Northern Italy mainly Lombardi, in which Maggiori can found which will be why it tasted so good  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

When we went in Morrisons the other day their special offer was Alvis or Alvin mature cheddar for £4.99 a kilo.  It's quite nice!

I thought so! Just back from there and I checked this. We never seem to get these offers especially the buy one get six free or whatever exactly it is ::) :D, but today the same 350 gm Cathedral City Extra Mature was £3.98 in our local one.

We always have a BOGOF offer or half-price one on one of the mature cheddars, I never pay the "usual" price.

It's the buy one get two free offers I look for,
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Actually their own brand is often on BOGOF to be fair and I get it to use as cooking cheese, but they took that off quite a while ago... ::)

Has the price of Cathedral City gone up?  £4.38 sounds a bit high.  Last year they went from 400g packs to 350g for the same price and in the same size packs. ::)

Mind you, I also have some in the freezer and am waiting for the buy one get two free offer.
Cheese makes everything better.

T*sco has a pricing policy which favours larger stores (normally). So our local store, being small normally has the same goods at a higher price than a megastore. ::) Perhaps NewShoot was shopping at a smaller branch.

I don't need any cheese yet either, I still have some from the 350 gm for £3.29 with 100% extra free from the Co-op. :)

I've been buying T*sco Canadian Mature Cheddar 400 gm recently as the best buy available in my local store, but today they had 350 gm Cathedral City half price at £1.99, so I bought two.  Rude not to, but not greedy. Might be going up to the BIG shops next week, I wonder what they'll have.....
