I know I know, you like your meaty pies and you are most welcome to them but I wont cook ya one - it just wrong.  Pastry yes, meat yes, pastry and meat, no.

Other good stuff that doesnt go together in my palate:
raisins - good on their own, wrong in any sort of bakery or chocolate. In fact, rum raisin chocolate is the work of the devil himself  :twisted:
pork and apple sauce - why?!

Things that should not work together but do;
peanut butter and jam
chicken curry and mango chutney
avocado and sweetened condensed milk

I'll go hide now before the angry villagers come to get me  :lol:

PS - trust munty to throw the 'man' card into the mix  :roll:  tut tut

pork and apple was an accident i reckon as in olden times it was always usful to have a pig  or 2  ( as we did ) and them forage for food in the orchards .and eat any fallen fruit and they also dug up the grass and weeds and manured the place . we had the bonus of being able to fatten our pigs in a couple orchards that belonged to other folks in the area . we repaid with pork fat and a joint at Christmas time always a blessing in hard times . oh the pork fat was used to add to meat pies etc .the blod was made into black pudding...yumy yum :)

Just a foodie thing - such a personal thing.  I married a man who doesnt eat carrot cake.  Had I known this....

On the other hand he always buys fruit and nut choccie so I dont eat it -apparently this is doing me a favour  :?

pork and apple sauce - why?!

pork is usually salty, and usually has some fat in it. The tartness and sweetness of the apple sauce contrasts that. A similar principle but with different tastes is why mango chutney goes with curry.

now that is a sin. everyone knows the perfect companion to avocado is salt!
