As with 'My Parsnip' - again no prize winners, but quite pleased with these two I've just dug up. Again, the obligatory wine bottle! Variety is the good old faithful 'Autumn King'. Weighed nearly 2lb between them.

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

im starting to build my rased bed for trying carrots, if i get a useabe crop i would be happy but anything like that i would be obver the moon

No raised bed, no manure, never done anything to it - just quite a light soil in that spot.

ive just found a site that recomends a sandy loam soil so will do a mix with my garden soil and some of that and hope it works

We've eaten all ours, but one of the old-timers was going to throw away all the ones he had grown which weren't big enough for him (they were the same size as the ones we'd grown!) and the ones with little splits in, so he let us help ourselves.
I wonder if I will ever get that fussy?

great carrots  you can get em to 4/3 lbs each n thye still solid and tasty ., if you buy tinned carrots its likly they are flak as farmed  :wink:
