As this is an F1 Variety does this mean that any saved seed would not grow the same as the mother plant?

Just asking

cheers

Sweet 100's are my favourite cherry tom, and usually seed is cheap enough to buy, 3pks for a half pound here. Out of curiosity, I've let a few grow from the 100's pollinated seed and the resulting cherry toms taste like s**t.

Last year I bought some floridity F1 seed Rutters.  Didn't realise it was F1 at the time, as they forgot to mention it in the catalogue!

They are a long cherry type tomato, and I really liked them.  So I did save some seeds to see what they would be like, and this year, they have come up almost true to type, just a bit bigger!

So, yes, save some and see what you get!!!  I know seeds aren't too expensive, but if you are a bit short of dosh, the more stuff you can save yourself, the better!!!!

I can second grannie on that, it is a question of luck, but sometimes you get good plants, a bit of excitement in it...

14 September 2007 Cherry Tomato Sweet Million

Cherry Tomato Sweet Million. (Lycopersicon lycopersicum)

Different varieties of cherry tomato has been grown over several years. The only one that has merit in my opinion is the Sweet Million. The fruit has a perfect size and the taste is most pleasing all season. These pictures depict one plant which is grown on a trellis alongside the deck, shared with the Morning Glories. We pick the fruit as required and partake almost daily. The plant produces from about 15 July until the frost arrives. The quantity of fruit is far more than the requirements for one family. Everyone, who has eaten this tomato, in my experience has positive, complementary comments.

26 September 2007. This plant is still producing even though we had three light frosts last week. This tomato cultivar is a hybrid.

I've tried the Sweet Million and some other Sweet one, and didn't care for them at all. Went back to the Sweet 100's. They're so easy, dependable and tasty.

Out of curiosity, what was your profession before gardening?
