Naughty Aggie

Great excitement here - we've had our first lovely, big pale green egg (still uneaten as it's got pride of place on the dresser!  ) However, we're a bit worried as the other morning one of our three dropped a soft-shelled egg as she was coming out of the coop, & Aggie snaffled it up - now we're worried that more eggs might've been laid but that they're being eaten...any advice? or is it a matter of wait and see?

It is perfectly natural for hens to eat soft shelled (and no shelled) eggs. it is natures way of keeping the nesting area clean as to not encourage predators to come sniffing round.

The vast majority of hens who eat soft shelled eggs will not even think of eating a normal egg
