Mine are finally producing some very small curds, but they do seem to be separating rather than staying tight so I suspect they're about to bolt.

all I get is a lot of leaf and no curds.

Caulis do not often stick to the timing on the packet. If you leave them they usually produce curds eventually.

Thanks Salmo, I will hang in there but they have very big leaves and look like my cabbages but with no middle, I am wondering if they are blind.

That can happen. Last year I had a dozen caulis that were plagued with flea beetle and they ended up with no growing points. Look in the middles, there should be small leaves coming.

I do not think I have flea beetle, but I do have clouds of white fly, would they cause a problem?

But isn't it supposed to be hot sunny weather that makes them bolt? Not much chance of that this year

Bolting can be caused by any sort of stress, although yes often the heat and dryness is often a trigger.

Whitefly are unlikely to have chewed the middles. They do not actually appear to do much damage but we notice them when a great cloud come off the leaves.
