I haven't had a lot of time lately to work on the plot & it has got rather overrun with weeds.  I spent this afternoon weeding & have an impressive pile - mostly thistles, dock, grass & something with lots of seeds that I don't know what it is.  can I compost the non-seedy stuff?  & what to do with the seedy stuff - am I best off burning this?

Unless you've a lot of extra time to separate the weeds, you must never compost weed seeds nor weed roots. The little stinkers will simply regrow.

I try to keep separate piles for weeds - seeds and ones with roots for the tip, the rest for the compost bin.

OR, get a large barrel with some water and add all the weeds, crushing them down with a stick or something. Top up with water, a lid if you have one but just loose so animals can't fall in, and let the works rot for a few weeks. It makes a very rich fertilizer once its all liquidized.
