Help - Hurt leg
« on: August 09, 2011, 17:02 »
I have jsut cleaned the poo off the foot of one of our 5 day old chicks.  I used warm water and a piece of kitchen roll and had already done the same to 5 other chicks, but when I put the last one back in to the brooder it flopped to the floor.  I've watched it for ten minutes or so but it can't put any weight on its left leg.  I don't know what I did wrong because I was very gentle when I held and cleaned it.  Please help - what should I do?

possible dislocated leg - you may need a vet to show you how to pop it back.
Staffies are softer than you think.

I haven't got a poultry vet nearby and my cousin, a vetinary nurse, is on holiday.  Is there anything I can do or should I just leave it for the time being (all of the chicks are sleeping at the moment so I don't know whether it's better or worse).
