Is it the start of rust?
« on: August 05, 2011, 22:07 »
Hi,

I have a Salix Kilmarnock growing in a pot in my garden, the wife noticed today some marks on the leaves, on turning the leaves over there is some yellow/brown like fungus.

I have attached a picture so hopefully someone will be able to help.

Cheers

Alistair

Ah, now you're asking. I found the above with the help of Mr. Google.

He also suggests trying Dithane, which is no longer available. You could try its replacement:

Hi Dave,

Yeah, I did a search for treatment and found Dithane but it said it was no longer.  Will get that stuff you found from Wilkos when I go.

Thanks again for your help.

Cheers

Our little salix had this, and I picked off all affected leaves and gathered up all the fallen leaves in the autumn too. It certainly helped keep it at a manageable level, and if sparying doesn't cure it, then at least you could try that  :)
