What's this on my tomatoes?
« on: August 03, 2011, 21:18 »
Hi all,

Can someone identify this for me please? It's definitely a fungus and is leaving brown spore dust everywhere.

Cheers

Simon

I hesitate to say blight as it isnt patchy.  Have you been watering in full sunlight...possible scorch?

I don't think it's scorch, as the plants are watered with dripper at root level. It's spreading from the edges of a number of leaves. I've also got it on a couple of aubergine leaves.

I'm prepared for the B word as that was my first thought.

It's a slightly better B than expected, but I guess the plants are still doomed.

No not doomed!

Pick off all grey/mouldy/dusty bits..even if you have to lose the odd plant also remove as many excess lower leaves as you can. Then drastically increase ventilation...........door and windows open night and day preferably.
Keep an eye on them and carry on picking off any dodgy bits, with luck you'll get most of the toms through to ripening. I did last year :)

This winter make sure you give the greenhouse a good clean with something like Jeyes ;)
