Soft fruit on wires
« on: July 24, 2011, 22:53 »
Have just got our plot - just working out beds as it was v overgrown.  Not much time to plant so preparing for autumn/next year.  Want to grow some loganberry/tayberry/blackberry on wires along a boundary bed.  Any advice?

The berries you mention will grow well on wires. But, if its a boundary, there's always the chance that others will help themselves to your fruit. And, birds will also consider them a free for all so you'd need to net against birds, regardless. As for the human factor, it's something you'll need to decide for yourself.

Thanks for that.  I'll net against the birds and trust my neighbours!  Just wasn't sure if those berries were OK for wires and relatively easy to grow.
