On my hols (elsewhere in EU) and some of the ´foreign´ locals swear by Neem Oil as a general tonic/insecticide/pesticide etc. Now my guess is that before I start to try it on my garden in the UK I´ll be told that it´s illegal do do so (for reasons that really don´t need going into again!).

Anyway - any views on whether it´s safe/useful/authorised for use in the UK before I decide to buy a bottle?

I have neem oil, but haven't yet used it as pests have not been bad this year. I know that many chemical companies over here are lobbying to have it outlawed as well, but so far it's still available for sale. Not sure about its UK status.

An Indian friend recently told me that neem soap (from India) is excellent as a personal bug repellant. I attract mossies like crazy so will be looking for the soap.

Thats handy to know - its readily available over here Neem Soap I might order some as I seem to be a mossie magnet too.

My friend says that you can shower with it or simply hand lather some and spread it over exposed areas - arms, neck, cheeks, etc. He warned not to get it in the eyes as it stings something terrible.
