We'd all like to spend more time doing the plot, so when we hear the whinge of "whats for tea?" it's a real soul destroyer.

Here's my favourite seasonal lunchtime snack.

Lazy Cow Bruschetta

Toast bread (Warburtons seeded batch is brill for this)
Slice Tomatoes.
Cut Garlc in half.

Toast the bread, rub the cut garlic over the toasted surface, slice toms and plonk on top, with ripped basil leaves and black pepper if you fancy.

Less than 5 minutes, and healthy.

Mmmmm yum.

How about the toast, but crack open a tin of sardines in olive oil, they're always in season. Don't forget the salt.
Oops a daisy!

Sounds good for a starter.

Now what's the main course?

And what was for tea? We know what you had for lunch!!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Tea is Pasta Mush - do not knock this - my daughter got a B grade GCSE with her variants of pasta mush - it started off as fridge scrapings, but the basics are.

Tomatoes/Passata/Tinned Toms.
Corn
Courgettes
Mushrooms
Peppers
Chillis
Onions
Garlic
Celery
or any combination of the above - just pad it out to look like a meal.

If you must have meat use, frankfurters or ham which need no cooking.

shove it all in a saucepan.

Simultaniously cook the pasta for 10 mins.

Serve.

Use the hard edges of the cheese on top if you fancy, with black pepper.

All done.

Can be covered and microwaved for latecomers.

Goodness - the experiments we've gone through in the past 3 years! Daughter no.2 has just finished a 3 year course at Loughborough College in Hospitality & Catering. She's also been working as college time permited at a local upper-market restaurant.

She was offered the position of managing it, with her name above the door as the licencee, but it would have meant long, unsocialable hours, not finishing most day until the early hours.

So after all this........ she's got a job with HSBC!

I suppose I should be grateful she's got a job & qualifications to fall back on.

There again, I did get a degree in electronics & promptly joined the police!

Lidl sells the best sardines ever.  Nixe brand, green tin, skinless sardines in olive oil.  Give the olive oil to the cat, spread sardines on toast & then drizzle with olive oil in which you've stored smoked garlic.  Don't forget the salt.  :D

And where might we barter that from?

Dunno really, I'll post again if I have any ideas.  Really Garlicky Co does also now sell smoked garlic in the shops (but it isn't smoked over oak from whisky barrels though!)
