Cold frame v unheated greenhouse
« on: September 15, 2007, 12:53 »
Have just read the back of the packets of caulis which say I can plant now and overwinter in a cold frame.

Is there any difference to keeping them in 3 inch pots in an unheated greenhouse?

Or is it just as good to wait til spring and get going then.

Was hoping to do what I could in autumn and get it on it's way, to save room for the warmer sowings needed in Jan/Feb.

I've planted my cauli seeds outside and am going to actually put the cold-frame over them. I have been wondering what to do with it!

Don't talk to me about caulis
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

A neighbouring plot had some lovely looking young caulis recently, I was envious. Noticed on Saturday they had all bolted and actually felt sad for the plot owner. What a shame! Maybe they should have picked them small? I'll have a go next year.

Ours bolted. I have no idea when you are supposed to pick them, so just assumed they would get bigger.

Still eat them though!!!
