wow.....not only me then!!!!!!!!!

Im near Heathrow and we have about 6 different varieties inside the GH and outdoors and  as yet have not got any fruits at all and only about 10 flowers tween em all.

No Gherkins....No Cue,s....No Chillies(well 1 cayenne)...No Sweet Peppers.

OK...to be fair last year we brought everything as established plants and of course it was all well advanced but as weve done all from seed this season  we are now finding out how slow growth can be when you try to grow it yourself from the kickoff.!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Don't be too hard on yourself this year we have had very strange and challenging weather.
Next year your plants could/should be a lot better :)

So that's something I've done right then

Picked the first ripe toms at the weekend -- yellow ones and some cherry plums -- from the little polytunnel, and other sorts beginning to go pale green  :D :D

Outside ones are about 18ins tall with good solid fruit so far (Alicante -- got given them as smal plants)

I had my first 2 tomatoes yesterday, and a few more are coming along nicely.

The first to ripen were my Harlequin F1 Hybrid, I have some Gardeners Delight not too far behind and then some Berry F1 Hybrid starting to turn.

Ate our first tomato today. It was a russian black tomato and was a little over ripe. I was expecting it to go a lot darker so I left it for a little too long. There is another one on the way and a few sweet 100's are starting to blush.

I think it is a bit early yet isn't it? I only have 3 on the plants and they are quite small.

However last year I had them all sitting on the plants looking green and someone said put banana skins in the greenhouse as they will set off the ripening process.

It worked really well!

I have a couple of Shirley in the glasshouse with plenty of fruit, but all still dark green..........but the 4 'spare' plants which I bunged in the corner in the garden are beginning to change from dark green to paler and will ripen first. :D

It really doesn't make sense  :nowink:

I don't have any toms at all. Not a one and none in the offing either indoors or out. One cucumber so far. This time last year I had loads of cues from the same variety as I have grown this year.  Oh well, I dare say they'll show up in time  :)

Have lots of 'gardeners delight' ready to pick, and some very large 'shirleys' that will be ready to pick by the weekend. Have tried a different variety this year,'vanessa' and again they are well on the way. All in greenhouse of course.
Peppers and chillis also doing well in same greenhouse.

I (Mrs L actually) picked two almost  ::) ripe something or other tomatoes from our greenhouse.

But, at my father's place, I have been picking Sweet Million for a couple of weeks. Not a huge number but enough for my parents lunches.

Sweet Million are ahead of Bambino, Gardeners Delight and Sun Gold.. all grown in the same greenhouse but the Sweet Million potted up about 10 days later than the others.

It is a very peculiar year.  ::)
