Hello and welcome! :D I'll move this to the grow your own board so that all the veg growers can see it. :)

hi paul,
you've been busy! clearing it is the worst part, now i would suggest you open a beer, sit back for half an hour and admire your bare soil.....it'll never look like that again!  :D
you've done good, don't put anything on one of the beds, just sow your carrots & parsnips now. they prefer a poorer soil, manure applied in the same year can cause them to 'fork'.
peas & beans can still be sown if you're quick. i would put those in your chick manure bed. also bung in some brassicas plants (scrounge some, everyone always grows too many) in the one with the horse manure , as they are hungry plants.
thing is you can spend a long time preparing the soil and there's some would say it was worth it. i say you've done it, weeded, dug, bung on some maanure....now you're ready to go. i did a lot less to mine, this is my first year and i'm feeding myself every night out of mine. good luck!
