Too late for parsnips?
« on: June 25, 2011, 09:59 »

I won't be starting off parsnips in kitchen roll tubes again, I'm not happy about carrots in toilt roll tubes either.  :tongue2:   Is it too late for direct sowing of parnips ?     Cheers,   Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

Absolutely.  They should be planted Feb -April. We are nearly in July.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I really wonder why we try to help people when that's the reaction we get, kleftiwallah.

This forum thrives on goodwill but if you start treating people like that then you're going to make yourself unpopular really quickly.  And if you actually need some advice then your strategy might just backfire.

Wow - upsetting 5 mods at the same time - that must win you some sort of award Kleftiwallah!

If you plant now I suspect you will get something but as has already been suggested the snips will not be big. If you have the seed already be warned - they do not keep well so if you have a bit of spare space then you might as well plant them and get some small ones for Christmas. Better than wasting the seeds by not planting them.

We're on our third sowing, hoping we might get something rather than the almost nothing we've got so far this year.
