Well, SWMBO and I have enjoyed our first home grown Piel de Sapo melon.  I can honestly say that it was the best melon I've ever tasted.  That's saying something, as I used to spend 8 hours a day checking melon quality for a major fruit importer.

Not that I'm biased, or anything.

Next year, I'm going to look after them properly!

Well done Oscar. When I've got the basic growing sorted (carrots, potatoes, cabbages etc) I really want to have a go at melons.

why wait until then?  I didn't.  Coldframe, manure, couple of feeds of comfrey tea and a topdressing with some chicken manure and that was it.  Casual neglect the rest of the time.  Give it a go.
