Too much rain!
« on: June 22, 2011, 08:43 »
Well it's been raining here since about the weekend on Saturday with a small dry patch on Sunday. I'm a little worried about my sweetcorn and squash which were only just planted (after growing in the greenhouse) a week and a half ago.

Should I put up some kind of shelter if it continues to rain or will they be fine?

Could they not have been left in the greenhouse?

Putting them outdoors in the rain and cold all the first week might put them into shock, especially with the weather in Aberdeen! :-)

I put them outside because I was going on holiday and was afraid they would melt if left unwatered in the greenhouse (they're about 4-8" tall now). I did give the sweetcorns plastic bottle armour to protect from wind and the squashes are fairly low to the ground anyway.

Doesn't look like we're getting a summer this year though
