Dratted mice
« on: September 08, 2007, 19:41 »
Opened up the greenhouse this morning and discovered all my basil had been cut at the base of each stem and a special strawberry plant had had all the leaves again, cut at the base.
There had been a small peice of fleece folded up in a corner and that`s where the intruder had made a little nest....nothing in it now.. They must have had a rare old time before deciding to escape. I leave the greenhouse door open all day. Can`t put down a mouse trap as I have a visiting wren and robin during the day.
Anyway the fleece has now been consigned to the bin and I shall be more vigilant in future!

We bait our traps with a bit of softened chocolate or peanut butter. They go for both and have to work to get the goodies off - which springs the trap.

For the avoidance of doubt, the bait recipe referenced above by me does not require a trap.  It is put down dry (in a pipe if you are concerned about birds).  :D

Puts a new slant on the expression 'let's go and make love in dead Earnest'.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Nice way to set the day off by having a smile at both photo and comments.....thanks for that.
Now WG having read all the comments on the link you posted am quite impressed...greenhouse sanitized but I am going to put the mixture down in the sheds.....himself off hill loch fishing so am hoping to impress him with the absense of the rats and mice over the next week or so that is if he can avoid tripping over the strategically placed bowls.
