Hi ... I posted query about my hen Edna last week and sadly she has now gone to the big chicken heaven in the sky. On reflection I think she may have had coccidiosis, as one of the other girls is now acting similarly and the symptoms seem to match. I've put Coxoid in their drinking water but have also been worming them with Flubinvet for the past few days. I'm not sure if both medications are too much and if so and I stop the Flubinvet can I restart it once the Coxoid course is finished ?? Any ideas please ??

perhaps complete the coxoid then wait a week and then start the course of flubenvet (start on day 1 again)

Thanks - that was what I was thinking just needed someone else's thoughts on the matter ... Do you think it will be ok to keep the mixed feed and Flubinvet as its a big waste of food otherwise ??

I would think so if you can seal the container tightly (assuming that you haven't added any oil to the feed as this could go off  )

No I haven't added any oil thankfully (although I did think about it !)
I'll keep it and see how I get on with the Coxoid. I really hope it works, its awful to see my girls ill. If only they could talk and tell me what the problem was !!

I've recently had an outbreak of cocci with my six-week old chicks (last week!) and I can say that Coxoid works very quickly. What I actually did was put it in their drinking water and used that water to make up a very sloppy porridge mixture using a small amount of porridge oats and their pellets. I fed it to them twice a day and they seemed to love it. It cleared the cocci within two days. So far there has been no repeat symptoms for any of the chicks and they all seem back to normal.
I know my grown hens love porridge, so give it a try - it definately worked for my girls.
